AGE 11-18 | EASTER HOLIDAY SEWING (3 DAY COURSE)
DATES: Tuesday 9th, Wednesday 10th, Thursday 11th APRIL
TIMES: 10AM-1PM
This course is open to students of all levels whether you’re new to the sewing machine or you’re already drafting your own clothing patterns.
In these three morning sessions you can:
- Get comfortable with the sewing machine by learning how to create 3 of our in-house sewing patterns. You’ll master a range of techniques to get you confidently started on your sewing journey.
- Learn how to use commercial sewing patterns and make a full garment (or two)
- Take a design idea through to a finished wearable garment, drafting your own sewing patterns and using our top of the range equipment
WHAT YOU’LL LEARN
THE BOX TOTE BAG will teach you essential skills such as hems, straps, patch pockets and finishing seams.
THE HALF MOON UTENSIL ROLL will teach you the bagging out method of finishing seams, sewing on a curve and cement your muscle memory for reversing stitches.
THE BUTTON CUSHION COVER will give you the choice of learning gathers or piping as well as how to make button holes.
THE HALF MOON POUCH will complete your introduction to sewing. You’ll learn how to machine quilt your fabric, add a zip with a welt opening, add hardware and slipstich a lining.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
At The Garden Sewing School we use brand new PFAFF 620 sewing machines.
All equipment, notions and standard calico fabric will be provided.
You are welcome to bring your own machine, equipment and materials if you prefer.
If you are bringing your own fabric we recommend medium to heavy weight woven fabric such as canvas or cotton twill
